Ron Price shares how innovators and inventors think differently—and how thinking like an innovator can make all the difference in value creation.

Episode Transcript

Does innovation have to be an invention? I’m Ron Price, co-author of The Innovator’s AdvantageAn inventor knows how to create or build something new. When this new invention creates value for others, that’s what we call innovation. An innovator thinks a little bit differently. An innovator realizes that there is more to creating value than just a new invention. The process, the method of delivery, the change in the relationship with the customer, maybe even new customers, and scaling that invention into many different applications—these are all the things an innovator thinks about, and this is the difference between being an innovator and an inventor. Not everybody can be an inventor, but everybody can be an innovator. So until next time, keep innovating.
