Video Transcript

Kelly Gibbons: Innovation is creativity in my eyes. You know, when we are dealing with a nonprofit, we are looking at other ways to raise funds, we’re looking at other ways to bring awareness for the organization. Innovation is crucial when it comes to new ideas, new ways, new paths, things that haven’t been done before that bring our brand awareness, that say we’re doing things a little differently, and with the nonprofit opportunity, I think it’s creativity. In my organization, the obstacles would be more short-sighted thinking. I think innovation tends to be long-range, it tends to the bigger picture. Myopic thinking, the smaller scope, I think those are limits to brainstorming, they tend to put parameters when we need to open those up a little bit more. It’s a matter of knowing your employees and knowing those folks that are supporting your organization and finding out what their strengths are and where you can use them most effectively. And that’s something with any nonprofit, but with ours, because we are so small, our numbers need to be really impactful and when we can find something that they’re passionate and interested in, they’ll take it a little further.
