Ron Price explains Stage Two of the Six Stages of Innovation: the Define Stage. In this stage, we take our ideas a step further to define our problems and opportunities.
Episode Transcript
What happens in Stage Two, the Define Stage? This is Ron Price, co-author of The Innovator’s Advantage. Stage Two is filled with more ideas—but with a different focus. There’s more analysis, a deeper understanding of the symptoms, and what are the underlying causes? Is it a simple problem or a complex problem, is it linear or non-linear—how deeply can we go to understand the problem or opportunity? Do we have the correct Problem-Statement? Is this a problem worth solving? If so, what will constitute the creation of new value? And what new opportunities might appear? What are the financial potentials? These are all important questions for us to continue to generate ideas around in Stage Two, the Define Stage. So, until next time, keep innovating!
