If you want to be an innovator, use design thinking and get inside the minds of those you serve!
Episode Transcript
What is design thinking? This is Ron Price, co-author of The Innovator’s Advantage. Design thinking is understanding the people for whom you are designing solutions. This moves us away from selling a product or a service and makes us think about how they’re going to use it and how it’s going to create value for them. A tool similar to this is often referred to as “the voice of the customer.” This helps us in design thinking. We ask the questions, “What are our customers complaining about? Why do they choose to work with us? What is it that they like about what we provide or how we provide it? What kind of values do we provide them that surprise them and that they find useful? These are all ways that we think about using design thinking for developing new products, new services, new processes, or even changing the way we relate to our customers. So, if you want to be an innovator, learn how to use design thinking by getting inside the minds of those you serve. That’s your 90 Seconds of Innovation. Now, keep innovating!
