Innovation expert Ron Price discusses explains stage one of the six stages of innovation, and how ideas can solve problems or create opportunities.
Episode Transcript
What should happen in the Identify Stage? This is Ron Price, co-author of The Innovator’s Advantage. The Identify Stage is all about ideas, ideas, ideas. And wherever they come from, whoever they come from, they are the identification of problems or opportunities that we can solve or we can advance. We may be thinking about ideas for new products or services, ideas for better processes, more efficient processes, more effective processes. We might be thinking about ideas for how we should reposition ourselves in the marketplace or we might be thinking about ideas for whole new paradigms that change the game. But Stage One, Identify, is all about how many ideas can you collect, and how will you organize them, and what are the potential benefits? The quantity of ideas is much more important than the quality of ideas at this stage, and the more sources of ideas that you can generate, the better. So, until next time, keep innovating.
