Wondering what the Six Stages of Innovation are all about? Ron Price details each stage. Take the Innovation Fitness™ Assessment to find out which of the stages your skills, behavioral traits, and motivators align most with.

Video Transcript:

Once you’ve completed your Innovation Fitness™ profile online, you’ll get a report back. And actually, you’ll get one of six distinct reports based on how you fit in the innovation continuum.

The first one is the Identify Stage. These are people that are great at coming up with ideas and identifying problems where innovation would be effective, would be impactful.

The second stage is the Define Stage. This is where we go deeper to understand the nature of the problem or the opportunity and begin to plan for how we’re going to work toward a solution.

The third stage is called the Develop Stage. This is where we begin to develop our solution experiments and ideas. We begin to test them out. Now, we’re headed down the pathway to creating real value for our customers.

The fourth stage in the innovation continuum is the Verify Stage. This is where we actually let our customers play with what we’ve created. We let them tell us what’s working well, what could be done better. And we’re actually continuing to innovate more iteratively usually at this point so that we can make the product or the service or whatever innovation we’re doing better and better over time.

The fifth stage we call the Deploy Stage. This is when we know we’ve got something that’s going to win, and now we’re thinking about creating a business case and how we’re going to distribute it and how we’re going to set up our customer service—all of the things that create even more value to what we’ve innovated.

And then the sixth and final stage is called the Scale Stage. This is where because of the success that we’ve had with our innovation, we think about, where else might we use this? And when you get your report, on the front page of your report it’s going to have one identifier, one word that tells us where your greatest fitness belongs.
