Episode Transcript

What type of person excels in the Deploy Stage, Stage 5 of the innovator’s continuum? This is Ron Price, co-author of The Innovator’s Advantage. We’re looking for the person who has great planning and organizing skills, great interpersonal skills, the ability to set and achieve goals, manage products. Somebody who is self-starting, who is strong at influencing others, and yet is still a strong conceptual thinker. Who’s objective in their working environment, where what matters is what works, what’s functional, and who’s selfless and doesn’t need to get an immediate return on investment for what they do. Behaviorally, we’re looking for somebody who has a sense of urgency, who enjoys frequent interaction with others, who has a strong will to win, and who is versatile. In other words, we’re looking for somebody who is an Implementer, who can see the big picture and yet continue to maintain grasp of the details. Somebody who has a very strong bias for practical results and for building and using strong systems, and who approaches their relationships professionally. This is the person who will excel in Stage 5, the Deploy Stage. So, until next time, keep innovating.
